Here's the thing....could you imagine how cool the Camry sport V6 would be if it were rear wheel drive. Looking just like it does now with the same engine and trans (transverse however)? In truth, it would be pretty cool. so close Toyota....SO CLOSE!

you own an avant. Avant owner = enthusiast. No way the non-enthusiasts at the soccer mom coffee table are going to accept you without a bonafide soul crushing crossover, no matter how many times you show them these threads!

It's called not missing an awesome deal via a dealer trade in special! The avant is super slow, seats are not too nice, autotragic, and is THE understeer king!!! The utility and traction is great that's for sure. I do miss my 95 M3, that thing was bad to the ass!

another dealer trade in special. $1900 with TT&L. Sold for $6500. This was 2006 though. An awesome machine for sure, but still just a pile of parts, fluids, nuts, and bolts. I felt nothing..... except sleepy coming back from Port Aransas one morning, Almost hit 2 utility poles im my quick snooze. Something a Camry is known for right? lol :]

Get a different job if this isn't what you want to do. Cars don't have soul, they stir the soul of the people around them, and if you don't appreciate it then you don't deserve it.

i'd have to say that at least 90% of technicians/mechanics are not enthusiasts. That's all I've known to work on. They send me to the shop every now and then but i'm in parts know. I had the spark at one point a long time ago and wouldn't mind having a little project at come in the future, but the spark is way gone. They are just cars and work to me know. But like I said, that's all i've really known. I feel comfortable in a place like OPPO, I think it is possible to like car stuff and news and not be an enthusiast in some odd way. You dudes are all so rad and so is this interest group.

That's the space the MarkX fills in Japan. Still no manual transmission, but it's at least RWD.

I think my dad (who is responsible for me having the "car bug", as they say) is a lot like you in that way. I'm not sure he really views a car as a "living" thing with an attitude, personality, or soul. He still loves racing, driving, and wrenching, but it's different than I think the way a lot of car enthusiasts are. He likes the capabilities they have (like handling and power, etc) and the inner workings and figuring out how they work and all of that, but because he isn't/wasn't a car mechanic for a living (just as a hobby) he isn't burned out (or to use your words, he hasn't lost the spark) on it like you have. And at the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with that view at all, it's just different from how I think about cars, but to each their own. :P

oh no doubt dude. I've had the bug, and it was goood. Power to the enthusiasts forever! It's just not me anymore. Those techs that still seek it thrive thankfully in motorsport especially (which I love!)

lol I feel that it is very close but there is just soooo many thing enthusiasts are passionate for that I brush off.
Lol it is so odd how that became my thing, especially with my area of expertise. I mean, I'm around new and old Volvo, Lotus, Mercedes, Aston Martin and other cars on a daily basis. Not just around them, but taring them apart and driving them around a lot (when I was the front end specialist). I had the bug once, I'm positive I don't have it but all in all power to the enthusiasts forever!

very close... but there are too many things enthusiasts are passionate for that I just brush off. I had the bug once and know it isn't there. Even when i'm around enthusiast cars all day. But at the end, power to the enthusiasts forever!

After reading your perfect responses to some others here, I feel compelled to share this with you. It's taped to my monitor at the shop, just taken at 6pm because I'm still here doing effing payroll. If you want to ruin your passion for a hobby, do it for work. That's been my experience. I try to nurture what's left of my enthusiasm with sites like this, but it's often an uphill battle. There is no passion or life in cars, just machines indeed...

there is just too many things I don't follow with enthusiasts. Most seem so childish. I have seen and bled too many contraditions to everything enthisasts believe in and say here. I don't shun them at all. We are all free and Power to enthusiasts forever! But I know that I am no enthusiast nomatter how well I get along in OPPO. This place truly rules for that reason

enthusiasts will shun it nomatter what. They see the Toyota badge and literally start spitting on everything about it. That's one major reason I am not an enthusiast.

I'd drive that. Toyota used to be the pinnacle of awesome cars ex: MR2,Celica GTS4,Supra. There is no reason the couldn't be awesome again. If you ask me Honda is just as bland as Toyota and they were awesome too.
I'm not a brand guy so if Toyota makes a car I like you can bet your ass I will buy one. The Mark X I would buy. Heck if you could get a base Camry with the V6 I would probably buy one. I hate that they moved the V6 to the higher up models. I like my cars basic but I like having some pezaz when I push on the go pedal.

I just don't see anything being bland. I'm not Toyota fan or any car fan. People preach about connecting and passion towards driving enthusiasts car when we all know that it can happen with any car. This being one example of many things I just cannot agree woth enthusiasts.
I to also miss those models for aure. They were freaking rad and im glad they are very slowly returning to that.
